Résumé: The mechanism of the active suppression of a sound field is studied as an interference–diffraction process of interaction between the external field and suppressing field produced by auxiliary radiators. An example of the sound field suppression is considered for the case where the diffraction suppression mechanism considerably prevails over the interference one.
